Donald Lee Dirting

Donald Lee Dirting, 85, of Mt. Jackson, VA., passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.  A memorial graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.  Reverend Nathan Robinson will officiate.

Mr. Dirting was born May 20, 1932 in Shenandoah County, son of the late Charles Richard and Virginia Mae Helsley Dirting.  He was a 1951 graduate of Edinburg High School and an Army veteran.  He was a self- employed truck driver and a member of the Teamsters.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Jane McCoy Dirting of Edinburg; five children, Richard Allen Dirting of Martinsburg, WV., Debbie Francis of Woodstock, Donna K. Smythe of Bunker Hill, WV., Kevin Dirting of Woodstock and Karen Sue Herbaugh of Edinburg; one sister, Dorothy Miller of Stanley; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 321, Woodstock, VA 22664 or the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
