Dorothy Ann Lambert

    Dorothy Ann Lambert 87 of Woodstock passed away on October 30, 2017. Dorothy was born on August 6, 1930 in Woodstock, Virginia the daughter of the late Ralph J. Lambert and Emma Funkhouser Lambert. She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1947 and Shenandoah Business School in 1948. Dorothy worked for Farmer’s Mutual Telephone Co., the Town of Woodstock for 23 years serving as treasurer and clerk of the council, served as deputy clerk for the Shenandoah County Circuit Court for 12 years; and was a part-time bookkeeper for R.J. Lambert Moving and Storage. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Woodstock where she taught Sunday school, was financial secretary, treasurer, choir member, trustee, member of various committees and part time secretary. She volunteered at the Woodstock Library, the Blood Mobile, and the Woodstock Clothes Closet. Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers, Gordon, John, and Howard Lambert, sisters, Becky Lambert, and Peggy Hollar. Dorothy is survived by a sister, Jean Foster; three brothers, Richard, Carroll, and Jerry; twenty-two nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and great- great nieces and nephews; an aunt, Margaret Funkhouser. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Valley Funeral Service. A private graveside service will be held, with a memorial service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Woodstock, on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2:00PM with the Rev. Clara Young and Rev. Barbara Rhodes officiating. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the St. Paul’s Building and Maintenance Fund or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork St., #405, Winchester, VA 22601. Heishman Funeral Service and Valley Funeral Service Branch, is handling the arrangements.
