The old Shenandoah County Jail, located on the site of the present jail, was razed in 1906. When a new jail was built and later renovated, the picket fence in this photo was replaced by an iron fence that stood until the 1970s when a new circuit courthouse was constructed adjacent to the jail. The Free Press needs old photos to continue this series. Persons with old pictures they might be willing to loan are encouraged to bring them to the newspaper office. |
