This Cora Miller Memorial Hospital operated in this former home on North Muhlenberg Street, Woodstock until Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital opened in 1951. It was one of two hospitals on Muhlenberg Street, each operated by private physicians of that day. The other operated by Dr. Fravel in what today is the Sigma Sigma Sigma National Memorial Headquarters. Ironically, before its use as a hospital, the Walton family occupied this house. Among members of that family was Mable Lee Walton, founder of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority whose national headquarters honors her. |
