The Sheetz Mill dam on Narrow Passage Creek, about two miles west of Woodstock, was destroyed by floodwaters in 1936, prompting operations of the nearby mill to cease and never resume. Dr. J. B. Rush, a Woodstock dentist, owned the mill and dam from 1913 until its sale in 1945. Jacob Sheetz (1764-1828) built the mill in 1811. He was a son of immigrant Mathias Sheetz who was killed in a Native American raid on settlers at Narrow Passage in 1766.
