Posted 2017-12-14

Central’s Kyle Clanton has been chosen to four positions on the all-region high school football team.

Clanton, who led the Falcons to their best season in school history, was selected to more first team positions than any other regional player.     On offense, Clanton was the choice of regional coaches for first team wide receiver and kick returner. On defense, he was chosen for defensive back and punt returner.

Clanton, a junior, is one of eight Central players chosen first team, all-region.

Selected first team all-region on offense were Grayson Manning, center; Declan Franklin, line, and Shane Watson, running back.

Chosen first team all-region on defense were Franklin, line; Bryan Davis and Zach Abrams, linebackers; Varsey Bright and Clanton, defensive backs; Andrew Miller, punter, and Clanton.

Central quarterback Zeb Dyer was chosen to the second team as were Ezra Smith, offensive line, and Bright, wide receiver. The Falcons’ Dean Woodwell was chosen second team as a defensive end.

Three Strasburg players were selected second team, all-region offense. Grant Scott was chosen for tight end, Stephen Kloosterman was a wide receiver pick and Austin Miller was tapped for running back.

On defense, the Rams’ Brody Tomblin was a second team choice at defensive back.
