Passing game fails Rams

Strasburg loses at Luray
Posted 2018-09-06 By LARRY BEAZLEY

Strasburg’s decision to rely on its newfound passing game backfired in Luray Friday night.

The Rams rushed for just 38 yards and found little success through the air, losing to the Bulldogs, 35-7.

Strasburg quarterback Chase Hart completed 18 or 38 passes for 228 yards, but only one of them resulted in a touchdown. Hart connected with Stephen Kloosterman for 75 yards in the second period, but it would be the Rams’ only touchdown of the night.

After a scoreless first period, Luray scored from 23 yards out and converted on the PAT.

The Hart to Kloosterman hook-up tied the score within minutes, but that would be the last time the Rams’ faithful would cheer.

Luray’s Austin Holiday returned the Strasburg kickoff 82 yards to put the Bulldogs up for good.

With 30 seconds remaining before intermission, Strasburg’s center snapped the ball over the head of the punter and Luray recovered it in the end zone to go up 21-7 at the half.

The Bulldogs scored again in each of the final two periods.
