Hart leads Strasburg over Skyline

Rams' defense keeps Hawks from scoring
Posted 2018-10-04 By LARRY BEAZLEY

Strasburg quarterback Chase Hart passed for 144 yards and a touchdown Friday to lead the Rams over Skyline, 28-3.

The Rams’ defense, meanwhile, kept the Hawks from reaching the end zone.

Skyline scored first on Douglas Cummings’ 32 yard field goal in the opening period, but the Hawks never again threatened to score.

Skyline’s slim lead held through the first half, but Hart and his receivers opened it up after the break. The Rams scored all four of their touchdowns in the second half.

Hart connected with Stephen Kloosterman for a TD from the 10 yard line to begin the scoring in the third period, then hit him again for a two-point conversion. The Rams led, 8-3.

Strasburg’s Jalen Bray scored on a two-yard run later in the period, but the PAT effort failed.

Bray scored two more times in the final period, and each time Trevor Sager kicked the extra point, making it 28-3.

Hart completed 11 of 17 passes, four of them to Kloosterman for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Sager caught four passes for 28 yards, Gregory Mason hauled in two for 75 yards, and Landon Elliott intercepted a Skyline pass and returned it 68 yards.

Bray carried 21 times for 72 yards and three touchdowns.

The win at home came just a week after Strasburg had beaten Warren County High’s Wildcats, giving the Rams a sweep of that county’s high school teams. Strasburg improved its record to 4-1, its only loss coming against Luray.
