Rams keep playoff hopes alive

Strasburg runs away from Madison County
Posted 2018-11-01 By LARRY BEAZLEY

Strasburg quarterback Chase Hart hooked up with wide receiver Stephen Kloosterman for three touchdowns Thursday night to lead the Rams over Madison County, 42-6 and keep the team’s post season hopes alive.

Strasburg got on the board early when Jesse Funkhouser intercepted a Madison County pass and returned it 53 yards to the end zone. Hart’s first TD pass to Kloosterman later in the first period went for 41 yards and put the Rams up 14-0.

The Hart to Kloosterman show wasn’t over.

The pair connected twice more in the second period, once from 54 yards and the other for six, both touchdowns. Between those TDs, Strasburg’s Jalen Bray broke loose on a 16-yard touchdown run, then carried it in for a two-point conversion.

The Rams led at the half 35-0.

Da’Neil Holliday increased Strasburg’s lead to 42-0 in the third quarter on a 14-yard run, and Trevor Sager kicked the point after, his fourth of the game.

Madison County’s only TD came in the third period, too little too late.

Neither team scored in the fourth.

Hart completed five passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns. Kloosterman had six receptions, three of them for touchdowns. Peter McKechnie intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble.

The win improved Strasburg’s record to 7-2. The Rams play at Central next week.
