Swimmers qualify for state

    Clarke County defeated Strasburg and Central in a three-team swim meet at Manassas recently.

    Strasburg finished second.

    Central’s Jeremy Racey won the 100-yard backstroke. His winning time was 1:02.53.

    Racey also finished second in the boys’ 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.83, and qualified for the 100-yard freestyle at the state meet.

    Strasburg’s Abbi Kawatsky was first in the 500 yard-freestyle with a time of 5:42.21, and first in the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.20.  She earned an automatic qualifier spot at the Class 2A state meet in both events.

    Strasburg’s Abigail Davis was first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.93 while the Rams’ Carson Bauserman was first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:18.99.

    Clarke County had a combined score of 202 to Strasburg’s 121, and 202 to Central’s 102.  The Rams had 170 to the Falcons 140.

    In the boys’ competition, Clarke downed Strasburg, 92-61 and Central, 89-46, while Strasburg topped Central, 80-63.

     In the girls’ competition, Clarke County defeated Strasburg, 110-60 and Central, 113-56. Strasburg defeated Central 90-77.
