Stonewall Jackson loses for a third time

Posted 2017-09-21 By Larry Beazley

Wilson Memorial, a team that had not yet won this season, found plenty to cheer about at Stonewall Jackson Friday night.

The Green Hornets scored twice in the first period and again in the second to take a 21-7 lead to the locker room at intermission.

The only bright spot of the night for Stonewall Jackson came in the second quarter when Generals' quarterback Brendan Hoover connected wiith Calvin Smith for an 80 yard touchdown. William McCourt kicked the PAT to bring the Generals to within seven, 14-7. Wilson Memorial, though, would score again before the half.

Wilson Memorial's defense held Stonewall Jackson scoreless in the second half while its offense crosssed the goal line four times on the way to a 48-7 victory.

Stonewall Jackson's Udreka Claude rushed for 70 yards to lead the Generals' effort. Turnovers hurt the Generals. They fumbled once and had two passes intercepted.

The Generals are working with a new coach and a new offense.
