Posted 2017-10-05

Strasburg captured the Bull Run District golf championship at Bryce Resort Monday with a team score of 332.

Clarke County’s team came in second four strokes back. Central finished third at 342, and George Mason fourth at 378.

Bull Run District and Shenandoah District 2A schools will gather Monday at 9 a.m. for regional play at the Heritage Oaks golf course in Harrisonburg.  The top three teams and the top six individual golfers not on the teams that qualified will participate.

In the Shenandoah District tournament Monday at the Heritage Oaks, Robert E. Lee won the title with a team score of 321 followed by Wilson Memorial 339, Stonewall Jackson 347, East Rockingham and Stuarts Draft at 348, Luray 372, Page County 378, Buffalo Gap 383 and Riverheads 409.

Stonewall Jackson’s Nick Dotson carded a 74 over the par 70 course to claim medalist honors. Teammate Yash Desai captured third place for the Generals with a 76.

Stonewall Jackson and Riverheads travel to Farmville next Monday, for the 1A regional with the expectation of either the team or individuals making it to state the following week.

The other Shenandoah schools will travel to Heritage Oaks to compete in the 2A regional Monday.
