Dotson, Stickles lead teams

    Stonewall Jackson High golfer Nick Dotson Monday shot 79 at the Manor Golf Club, Farmville to post the low individual score in the Region 1V tournament.

    Dotson’s Stonewall teammate Yash Desai came in second with a round of 82. Alan Arnesen shot 86 to finish fifth.

    All three qualified for state competition.

    As a team, Stonewall Jackson posted a 355 to finish second behind Central Lunenburg.

    In the Shenandoah District tournament last week, Dotson shot a 74 to win low medalist honors. Desai posted the third lowest score, 76, to finish third.

    The Generals were third in the district tournament.

    In Bull Run District golf, Strasburg’s Austin Stickles led his team to the Region 2B tournament title. Central had won the regular season championship.

    Six Shenandoah County high school golfers were chosen to the all Bull Run District team.

    Based on performance for the season, those tapped for all district were Stickles, James Burr, Seth Stickley and Jack Burr of Strasburg and Luke Estep and Coy Jiminez of Central.
