Volleyball Rams prep for district

    Strasburg will end is volleyball season against rival Central today and begin preparation for the district tournament Saturday.

    Central has won just two games all season, both over Stonewall Jackson, a team that ended the regular season without a victory.

    Strasburg lost a close match to George Mason, 3-2 and a second match to Clarke County, 3-0 during the past week.

    In cross country, both Central boys’ and girls’ teams took first place in the Shenandoah County meet at Stonewall Jackson’s course.

    Central’s boys posted a perfect score of 15, followed by Stonewall Jackson, 57, and Strasburg, 66.

    Central took the first five positions: Mason Lucy-Speidel--17:47), Gus Wightman--17:52, Sawyer Lucy Speidel 18:42, Chase Rimel--18:44, Anthony Piselli--19:22.  Strasburg’s Tyler Zimbro--19:25, and Anthony Cadle--19:33 were sixth and seventh.  Stonewall Jackson, Zach Wine-- 19:36 was eighth, Central Shawn Purdy--19:37 was ninth, and Stonewall Jackson, Tristan William--19:39 rounded out the top ten.

    Central girls placed first with a score of 22, followed by Strasburg, 54, and Stonewall Jackson, 56.

    Falcons had three top spots, led by Jacyln Cardoso--21:49, Grace Dellinger--22:19, Aliyah Kibler--22:37.  Generals LuLu Funkhouser was fourth--22:47, Rams finished fifth Rachel Palmer--22:59, and sixth Abby Davis--23:16.  Falcons Ashley Dodd--23:18 was seventh, Generals Eli Dellinger--23:31 was eighth, while Falcons Hannah Dellinger--23:43 was ninth, and rounding out the top ten was Central Olivia Wightman--24:03.

    Both Stonewall boys’ and girls’ teams defeated East Rockingham and Buffalo Gap.
