Palmer 39th at state

Posted 2017-12-07 By Larry Beazley

Strasburg High cross-country runner Rachel Palmer was the Rams’ only competitor at the recent state meet.

She finished 39th in that event, posting a time of 21 minutes, forty-six seconds, five ticks off her performance at state a year earlier.

Palmer was seventh in the Bull Run District championship meet, and made the 2A all-region team for a second consecutive year, finishing 13th and shaving a full minute off her time at the state meet a year earlier.

Her career personal record is 20:37 in the three mile.

Palmer will compete on the Rams’ swim team for the second year this winter in the 200-yard freestyle, 100 yard breaststrokes, 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays.

In the spring, she plays on the Rams soccer team as a midfielder.

At school, Palmer is a member of the National Honor Society, Family Career and Community Leaders of America and the Athlete Leadership Council.

She has achieved a 4.0 GPA and has only missed one day of school since kindergarten. After graduation she plans to attend Shenandoah University to study exercise science.
